metal and comedy: an unlikley combination

I have always proposed that you should never take yourself too seriously, which is why I have a good time making fun of metalheads and of course...myself. There are tons of black metal bands that I could make fun of, but how about someone who is actually trying to be comedic about metal. I first learned of Steve Hughes when watching some youtube footage of Wacken 2008. He is a metal head turned comedian. He is actually in the Australian black metal band Naxzul. Check out this video!


Then there is the mighty Bill Bailey, though not all of his comedy is about metal, he does uses guitars and other instruments in his stand up. Search for Bill Bailey on youtube and you will find tons of laughs. Check out Medieval Porn!


Also check out of Brian Posehn and his blend of metal humor, if you have not seen him then you are missing out on many laughs. Brian has a weird style and I can totally dig his geeky-ness because all metalheads are hardcore geeks deep down inside. Many of us tend to hide our geeky-ness behind vests of spikes and skull patches, but hey fellas- I'm not fooled. Check out this video of Brian.



Then there is my favorite metal and comedy mix-up, METALOCALYPSE!!! Some of you might be saying right now "f*cking lame". I say to you my friends, stop taking yourself so seriously and have a laugh, its ok to be metal and laugh...seriously it's ok!! This show has been on for two seasons, and has caused a Hot-Topic shit storm of posers and emos to also watch this show, but damn I still can't get enough of these guys. Since I don't own a television (tr00-metal), I have to download episodes to my computer, which causes me to miss a few episodes here and there. The creators of Metalocalypse have given real metalheads a treat with some great cameo guest characters, such as: Ihsahn, King Diamond, Gene Hoglan and others. Stop being a whiny, tr00 metal bitch and watch this show!!!! Here is a clip of the band awakening a troll from Finland named Mustakrakish.
